Love it or hate it, Tide’s Laundry Night campaign is something special. In coordination with the National Football League, Tide teased Sunday is “Not For Laundry,” or N.F.L. They made Tuesday for laundry, keeping Sunday for football. The campaign included other shows like the Voice and Days of Our Lives that air on Tuesday, which had a “problem” with the new laundry day. Recognizable celebrities like Kenan Thompson and Nick Offerman, cast members of the Voice and Days of Our Lives, Bud Light, and Payton Manning were featured through the four week cross-marketing campaign.
Tide’s Laundry Night In America
This ad kicked off the campaign during the first week of the NFL. At first, it did feel a little out of place and bizarre, and that’s what’s been going viral online. The next commercials followed up the kickoff ad, tying it all together.
There were a few standalone ads that featured your average NFL fan fighting the urge to do laundry.
Bud Light also had their own run of Laundry Night in their latest Dilly Dilly ad for Bud Light Platinum.
This next ad is a general follow up of all the previous ads. We can only assume that with the title “Previously on #LaundryNight,” Tide isn’t done with this campaign. We’re pretty sure these characters, or at least this timeline and theme, will make a return during the Super Bowl.
Manning and Thompson are joined by Offerman who gives his on-brand response to the whole campaign. Offerman’s character is one way Tide is able to point out that they’re not being serious.
The final ad to the supermarket scene shows Offerman taking the Manning stand home to put in his fireplace. Again, this adds another level by referencing an ad for a scotch distillery that features Offerman enjoying a scotch next to a fireplace for 45 minutes.
