Thanksgiving weekend marks the beginning of the gift giving season. We are all familiar with, if not avid participants in Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but there is one more day of gift giving possibilities to celebrate and it’s our favorite. Today is Giving Tuesday!
One of the most exciting Giving Tuesday campaigns in our region is one that is organized by the Community Foundation and benefits over 200 nonprofits. Give BIG San Bernardino County, which started at midnight today is a 24-hour online funding drive with a little extra twist.
Non-profits are encouraged to have a little friendly competition to see who can get the largest number of unique donors to participate. Those who make it on the leader board qualify for extra prizes. To make the event even more fun, there is also the possibility of one donation every hour being randomly chosen and increased to $500. That means that every donor who makes even a $10 donation has the possibility of giving big!
The Fire & Burn Foundation, a client of ours, is participating in this event and we wanted to help them spread the word about the work they do, why you should help out this fantastic organization and get you in the spirit of Giving Tuesday.
Dedicated to reducing burn injuries and deaths through prevention education and support services, the Fire & Burn foundation also understands the unique nature of a burn injury and provides burn survivor support programs to help with the long-term effects of injuries. One such program is their youth camp, Embers of Hope.
Donations made through the Give BIG campaign will be used for the foundation’s winter camp, Embers of Hope, specially designed to meet the needs of burn survivor children, ages 5-17 years. Click here to read about Josh and his burn survivor story.
Donations can be given at any time throughout the year, but if you give today, your donation will work overtime. More than that, if you spread the word, you can help raise awareness and encourage future funding!
